Module :An introduction to African Philosophy (semester3)

This semester will highlight contemporary African philosophers and their views on philosophy and African philosophy and its connections to the West.It will focus on some famous African philosophers , namely, K.Wiredu, P.Hountondji, H.O.Oruka and Y.V.Mudimbe.The program is designed as follows:

1-Kwasi Wiredu : ‘how not to campare traditional African thought with Western thought’ (1976)

2-Paulin Hountondji : ‘ on African philosophy’

3-Henry Odera Oruka : Trends in African philosophy-

4-Y.V.Mudimbe :Development of an African Philosophy and the reinvention of Africa by its philosophers.
